Cup dream over for Seoul United

K3 League champions Seoul United's dream of mixing it with the big boys of the National League and K-League in the 2008 FA Cup competition ended after they were eliminated at the third qualifying round stage by Korea University.

Goalless after regulation time, the ambitious third division side lost 3-1 on penalties to their university opponents. Also exiting at the same stage and in the same fashion were non-league Chungju Solveige, who played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Honam University before losing on penalties to the same scoreline as Seoul United.

There were mixed fortunes for the two new National League members as Gimhae FC exited on kicks from the penalty mark to Yeonsei University, whilst Cheonan City overcame Soongsil in the fourth shoot-out of the afternoon in Gimcheon.

Korea University, Honam University, Yeonsei University and Cheonan City all join the remaining eleven National League and fourteen K-League sides in the tournament proper, the draw for which will be made at an as-yet unconfirmed later date.
