With just three days to go until the start of the 2008 K3 League season, influential Korean internet media company Daum Communications confirmed they have reached a deal to sponsor the burgeoning football competition.
The deal, which will run for two years and will see the competition branded Daum K3 League, will provide yet further exposure for the league already attracting headlines through the growth and popularity of citizen clubs such as Seoul United, Bucheon FC 1995 and Goyang FC. Daum previously agreed a deal to be shirt sponsors of 2008 league debutants Bucheon, and media rivals KTF's WCDMA brand Show are sponsors of Seoul United.
The K3 League, which was launched in 2007 with ten teams in a test phase and won by Seoul United, will expand to sixteen sides for 2008. The new season will kick off on Saturday March 22nd with the first round of fixtures as follows:
Seoul United v Gwangju Gwangsan (3pm)
Bucheon FC 1995 v Kyungju Citizen (7pm)
Jeonju EM v Changwon United (3pm)
Jeonju Ongoeul v Goyang FC (3pm)
Namyangju Citizen v Pocheon FC (7pm)
Yongin FC v Hwaseong Sinwoo Electronics (3pm)
Seoul Pabal v Cheonan FC (3pm)
Yangju Citizen v Asan United (7pm)
