Honours even as Seoul and Suwon share the spoils

The destination of the 2008 K-League championship is finely balanced after FC Seoul and Suwon Samsung Bluewings played out a 1-1 draw at the Seoul World Cup stadium in the first leg of the Championship Final on Wednesday evening.

Home side FC Seoul took the lead thanks to the head of Brazilian defender Adilson dos Santos in the 21st minute, but it was another defender, Suwon's Kwak Hee-ju, who levelled proceedings in the 79th minute for the visitors to ensure a nervy affair in the second leg in Suwon on Sunday.

Suwon are gunning for their fourth K-League crown, having previously lifted the title in 1998, 1999 and 2004, and will be looking to secure a domestic double having already won this season's Hauzen Cup competition. FC Seoul last won the championship in 2000, in their former guise as Anyang LG Cheetahs, and will be looking to pick up their first silverware since the 2006 Hauzen Cup.
