A total of sixteen sides will compete for the 2008 K3 League championship after the KFA confirmed the line-up of clubs and the dates for the second season of the third level of Korean football.
Nine of the ten sides that competed in 2007 will remain in the competition, with Daegu Korea Powertrain dropping out of the K3 setup. Joining the existing nine are seven new teams, most notably Bucheon FC 1995, the team formed by former supporters of Bucheon SK who began their quest to set up a new football club after SK's decision to relocate the team to Seogwipo to become Jeju United. Also joining the K3 for 2008 are Goyang FC, Gwangju IFU, Gyeongju FC, Namyangju United, Jeonju Ongoeul and Pocheon FC.
The season will kick off on March 22nd and will operate on a two stage basis, with each stage comprising of fifteen rounds of matches. The two stage winners, and the two sides with the best combined records will progress to the championship playoffs, with the season scheduled to end on November 29th.
