South Korea wrapped up qualification to their seventh consecutive World Cup finals tournament as the 2-0 win away against the UAE ensured that Huh Jung-moo's men became one of the first teams to book their ticket to South Africa in 2010.
Two first-half goals from Park Joo-young and Ki Sung-yong were enough to secure the points for the visitors with two games to spare in the qualification group, and the Taeguk Warriors will now return to Korea for the final two games of the campaign against Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Neighbours North Korea remain second in the qualifying group after holding Iran to a goalless draw in Pyeongyang, and they know that victory in their final game away to fellow qualification hopefuls Saudi Arabia would guarantee automatic qualification.
South Korea's next match is on June 10th against Saudi Arabia in Seoul, and whilst nothing is at stake for the home side a win would guarantee finishing top of the qualification group and also give North Korea's chances of securing at least a playoff spot a huge boost. The final game in the group is another home encounter against Iran on June 17th where again they have the opportunity to influence the North's progression.
