Suwon Samsung Bluewings collected their 17th major trophy as they defeated Chunnam Dragons 2-0 in the final of the Hauzen Cup competition at the Suwon World Cup stadium on Wednesday.
Cha Bum-keun's Bluewings side took the lead in the 11th minute through Bae Ki-jong, and the victory was confirmed twelve minutes from time when Brazilian forward Edu pounced to double the lead and secure Suwon's first trophy since lifting the same trophy in 2005.
In the thirteen years since Suwon were founded, the club have won the K-League three times, the FA Cup twice, two Asian Champions Cups, two Asian Super Cups. five League Cup competitions, two Korean Super Cups and the A3 Champions Cup.
Suwon remain in the hunt for the 2008 K-League title and are currently second in the league table.
