The line-up for the last 32 of the 2009 Korean FA Cup competition was confirmed on Sunday as Kyunghee University, Joongang University and Sunmoon University all booked their places in the tournament proper.
Kyunghee, who had eliminated Hanyang University on penalties on Saturday to face K3 League side Seoul United, faced a second shootout in 24 hours as their game with the capital club finished 1-1. Despite going down to ten men when Kim Joon-hyung was red-carded in the 53rd minute, Seoul United took the lead through Kim Dong-hae and looked set to qualify until Kyunghee's Kang Joo-ho equalised two minutes from time. The game went to a shootout and the university side held their nerve, triumphing 4-3 from the spot.
Joongang University's clash with Korea University also ended all square at 1-1, with Joongang prevailing 5-4 on penalties. The third tie also finished level, non-league Gumi Siltron matching Sunmoon University 2-2 over the ninety minutes but falling 4-1 in the shootout.
The three university sides join the fifteen K-League and fourteen National League sides in the last 32, which is scheduled to take place on May 13th.
