National League debutants Gimhae FC and Cheonan City got their 2008 campaigns off to perfect starts as they recorded opening day victories on the road at Suwon City and Incheon Korail respectively.

Cheonan opened the scoring on the stroke of half time against Korail at the Incheon Munhak stadium, and extended their lead midway through the second half. Korail grabbed a late consolation near the end but it was the visitors who would pick up the three points.

Gimhae FC took on a Suwon City side missing a number of key players, and manager Kim Chang-kyum, owing to suspensions picked up from the controversial championship playoff final first leg at the end of 2007. A second half strike from Gimhae's Yang Dong-chul was the difference between the sides.

Hummel began life in their new home of Nowon with a goalless draw against Yesan FC, also beginning life under a new name following their relocation from Seosan. Hongcheon Idu, the new incarnation of the INGNEX side that endured a torrid time in 2007, slumped to a 2-1 home defeat to Busan Transportation Corporation.

Reigning National League champions Ulsan Mipo Dockyard cruised to a televised 3-1 win on the road at Gangneung. A double from Kim Young-hu and an Ahn Seong-nam strike helped them on the way to an opening day win.

In the K3 League, 2007 runners-up Hwaseong Sinwoo Electronics scored in the final minute of the match to come away from much-fancied Bucheon FC 1995 with a well-deserved win. Seoul United recorded their second victory of the season with a home win over Changwon United, and Namyangju and Yangju Citizen shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw, a result that moved Namyangju to the top of the table on goal difference. Seoul Pabal picked up their first point of the season with a 3-3 draw at Yongin, denying the home side from moving top of the table and ending their 100% record. Goyang and Pocheon remain the only two sides still seeking their first points of the season after going down to Gyeongju and Gwangju Gwangsan respectively.
