National Team

Taeguk Warriors

The South Korean national team have been one of Asia's strongest sides since making their first full international appearance at the 1948 Olympic Games tournament in London.

Perpetual qualifiers for the World Cup since the creation of the K-League in 1983, Korea stunned the footballing world in 2002 by reaching the semi-finals of the biggest tournament of all.

After exiting at the group stage of the 2006 World Cup tournament, and finishing in third place at the 2007 Asian Cup, attention now turns to the 2010 World Cup finals tournament in South Africa where South Korea will face Greece, Argentina and Nigeria in Group B.

Preparing For The World Cup

After finishing top of Group B and securing qualification for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, attention now turns to preparing for the greatest tournament of them all.

Korea defeated Paraguay 1-0 in a home friendly in August, and followed that up with a 3-1 win over fellow Asian qualifiers Australia in September. A trip to Europe in November saw them draw 0-0 with Denmark in Esbjerg before going down 1-0 to Serbia in London.

The national team will embark on an overseas training camp in January 2010 that will see them visit Spain and South Africa for several friendly matches.
