The South Korean national team have been one of Asia's strongest sides since making their first full international appearance at the 1948 Olympic Games tournament in London.

Perpetual qualifiers for the World Cup since the creation of the K-League in 1983, Korea stunned the footballing world in 2002 by reaching the semi-finals of the biggest tournament of all.

After exiting at the group stage of the 2006 World Cup tournament, and finishing in third place at the 2007 Asian Cup, attention now turns to the quest to qualify for the 2010 World Cup finals tournament in South Africa.

The Road To The World Cup

New national team boss Huh Jung-moo will lead South Korea into the third round of Asian World Cup qualification where they will face North Korea, Turkmenistan and Jordan.

The group will begin for South Korea on February 6th 2008 against Turkmenistan and end on June 22nd at home to North Korea. The top two sides from the five groups will progress to the final round of Asian qualification to determine who progresses to the World Cup finals.

2010 World Cup Qualifiers

Korea have been drawn in Group 2 of the third round of qualifiers.
